Rapture (The Fallen Angels, #4)Rapture by J.R. Ward
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rapture is the fourth book in the Fallen Angel series. Due to Devina’s affinity for breaking ALL of the rules, in this book, her and Jim fight it out for a soul they fought over in a previous book. What would you do if you were given a second chance at life? Would you take the chance to right some of the more atrocious wrongs you committed in your life? Or, would you squander the opportunity and destroy the lives of a few people you missed on the first go round? The soul in question is given that choice. The main character seems to have found himself and is much more likable in this installment.

Jim and Adrian, on the other hand, seem to be on a downward spiral. Adrian is handling Eddie’s death about as bad as bad can get. Jim allows Devina to successfully capitalize on his obsession with Sissy by killing off several lookalikes to distract him from the game.

In the first book of the series, Jim was chosen due to his equal parts of good and evil. Up until now he has been undoubtedly fighting for the good side. The final scene opens the door to all kinds of possibilities in the next book and potentially changes the overall dynamic of the game.

Wild CardWild Card by Lora Leigh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Nathan/Noah and Sabella are overly deserving of a happily ever after. Lora Leigh makes them work for it in this book. Just as Nathan and Sabella are finding a rhythm in their marriage, Nathan dies. Actually, Sabella is told that Nathan is dead because for all intents and purposes, the man she knew as Nathan is gone. A darker, harsher Nathan, now going by Noah, emerges from his trials and tribulations to help protect Sabella from the scourge that is taking over his hometown. Noah does everything he can to prevent Sabella from discovering he is her long dead husband. However Sabella notices the similarities between Noah and Nathan not to mention the way his touch sets her body on fire.

Lora Leigh has penned a story that is full of ‘appearances can be deceiving’ instances with several of the characters. Sabella is betrayed by a woman she considered her best friend. Nathan/Noah learns that everything he thought about his father was based on incorrect assumptions. Sabella doesn’t understand why Nathan stayed away for so long but has now returned under a different name and has not acknowledged her as his wife. Will they get a second chance at forever or will the deceptions lead to more heartbreak and death?

Lethal Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #3)Lethal Rider by Larissa Ione
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book three of the Lords of Deliverance series focuses on Thanatos and Regan. This book picks up about eight months after Immortal Rider, Limos’ book. Due to a ploy by Pestilence (Reseph), Regan seduced Thanatos with the intention of getting pregnant inadvertently creating Thanatos’s agimortus. Thanatos awakens from his hellhound saliva induced paralysis planning to hunt Regan down in retribution for her betrayal. When he finds her and discovers she is pregnant with his child he realizes that everything he has ever wanted, a family, is within his grasp. The only problem is that Pestilence is out to destroy Thanatos’s unborn child to usher in the apocalypse.

In this book we learn, more about Regan’s history and her motivation for agreeing to seduce and get pregnant by Thanatos. The previous books revealed a secret about each of the siblings they had managed to keep secret from everyone. We find out the secret Thanatos has been keeping and it is a whooper just like Ares and Limos. This book is jammed packed with action including the fracture of the Aegis. It ends with the question of whether or not the apocalypse will begin being answered.
