Only True in Fairy Tales

Only True in Fairy TalesOnly True in Fairy Tales by Christine Stovell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A real life fairy tale
Eloise no longer believes in intangibles, like love. It only exists in fairy tales. When Ross moves into the castle like house across the street, Eloise cuts off her wild imaginings that he could be a knight in shining armor compete with dashing good looks. She is suspicious of him from the moment she lays eyes on him but he keeps popping up at the right moment to come to her rescue which eventually wears her down and allows her to open herself to the possibility of him being what she always wanted. Even, Gracie, her retired greyhound, who distrusts all men, takes an instant liking to Ross which makes it easier for Eloise to give Ross a chance to prove he is different from her ex-husband.

He’d only meant to brush her lips with his, but as soon as their mouths touched, it was like coming home.

Only true in fairy tales is a great feel good read. When you need a quick read to lift your spirits, look no further. The characters are comical and easy to love. Even though this is a short novella, it has the depth and development of a full length novel. A great read to help unwind after a stressful day.

His to ClaimHis to Claim by Opal Carew
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Can he give her what she needs without losing himself?

Melanie has loved Rafe Rainer for years. Working for him became unbearable when he fell in love with her best friend. She decided to leave her job and finally figure out what she wanted and start living her life for herself. Most people don’t know this but Rafe is also Storm from the hit band Savage Kiss. He has yet to figure out if he wants to be a billionaire CEO or a famed rock star because both don’t seem possible. His relationship with Melanie presents another problem. She wants a dominant lover and Rafe/Storm is afraid his troubled past will cause him to go too far and hurt her

Opal Carew is a master at writing quick reads filled with love and lots of lust. We get a refreshing twist on the billionaire/dominant sub-genre. We do not have an inexperienced girl being overwhelmed by the sexy billionaire who needs to control her but rather a man who is attempting to fight those urges for fear that he will hurt the woman he loves. While the story is short, Opal Carew is able to write a full-bodied story that does not leave readers wanting.

Queen of Wands (Sanctify, #2)Queen of Wands by Katee Robert
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The second installment of the Sanctify series does not disappoint. We met Jenny O’Keirna, Boone’s sister, in Queen of Swords. She is feisty, quick-tempered, and completely outrageous but Mac Flannery, Azure Enterprises prized inventor, is attracted to her all the same. Jenny doesn’t know what it is about surprisingly sexy but nonetheless nerdy inventor that makes her pulse race and libido sky rocket but she grudgingly admits she likes it, a lot. Mac and Jenny give in to their mutual attraction but the timing couldn’t be worse since they are on the run from Sanctify who wants to exploit Mac’s genius to decimate their enemies.

Katee Robert is an absolute genius when it comes to blending sci-fi, romance, and drama; think Star Trek meets the Young and the Restless. The plot runs at a good pace, the characters are realistic and likeable, and the storyline is enjoyable. This book picks up where the first one left off, since it is part of a series, but this book does stand alone for readers who are new to the series.
